Veteran Oscar producer Gilbert Cates, Dies at 77

Legendary producer Gilbert Cates, who produced a record 14 Academy Awards ceremonies, has sadly passed away at the age of 77.


TMZ reports that, the producer’s body "was discovered last night in a parking lot at UCLA. Emergency teams responded to a call on the campus around 5:50PM".Authorities is still investigating the cause of death.

Gilbert is the founder and Dean of UCLA’s School of Theater Film and Television from 1990 to 1998. He is the uncle of actress Phoebe Cates.

Some of his movie credits that he worked on are "I Never Sang for My Father (1970", “Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams” (1973) and “The Last Married Couple in America” (1980).
