“Tao po ako, hindi po ako Igorot”, that one sentence put Filipina comedienne Candy Pangilinan on a terrible hot seat and putting her career in jeopardy.
Even though she issued a public apology, the people of Baguio especially the Igorot community and the Baguio City council are still intense with this racial slur.
The Baguio City council on Friday declared comedienne Candy Pangilinan as “persona non grata” by a majority vote.
with this decision, Pangilinan will now be banned from going to the summer capital of the Philippines and her movies are also banned from being shown in the city’s theaters.
Candy admitted that it was a "careless remark" and she was deeply sorry.
Pangilinan’s group is now planning to launch a fund-raiser to benefit Cordillerans.
