Reality star Heidi Montag went to court seeking legal separation last June but many doubted her intentions but now she wants her separation to be official as she filed for divorce from husband Spencer Pratt.

The divorce petition was filed in Santa Monica, California Superior Court citing the popular reason "irreconcilable differences". (July 30)

"Heidi has amended her petition for separation and today has filed a petition for dissolution of marriage from Spencer Pratt," Montag's lawyer Jodeane Farrell tells PEOPLE. "The couple has agreed they would like their divorce to be finalized in a timely manner in an out of court settlement. Both parties are amicable with each other and over the possibility of finalizing their divorce."

Spencer Pratt gave his response with the divorce filing, "Well, some say if you can't handle the heat get out of the kitchen. Heidi couldn't handle King Spencer's fame so she got out of the marriage."

A desperate attempt for publicity as Spencer Pratt is taking advantage with this situation.

The soon-to-be-ex couple married last April 2009 in Pasadena, California.

Heidi Montag has filed for separation from husband Spencer Pratt, citing "irreconcilable differences" in a court document submitted at the Santa Monica courthouse in Santa Monica, Calif.

The 24 year-old reality actress did not file for divorce! The legal separation means that Heidi's earnings will become hers alone from the date of separation.

It was reported that their break up is fake! A desperate attempt for publicity and to stay in the headlines when “The Hills” comes to an end. A source said, this is a "part of Spencer's master plan."

Many doubted the break-up of the annoying couple Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt and it seems the sham speculations are true!

The fame-hungry couple reportedly faked their break up in a desperate attempt for publicity and to stay in the headlines when “The Hills” comes to an end.

According USWeekly, an insider says, “Heidi and Spencer are laughing over it and having a blast." and added, "This breakup is the latest part of Spencer’s master plan.”

Heidi and Spencer are just doing their dirty publicity stunt to promote their upcoming reality show which was reveal by Heidi's friend Jennifer Bunney who is also in the show.

"Of course Spencer will be in the show," Bunney says. "He is her husband and even though they are separating, he is a part of her life and she's a part of his. He'll be an aspect of the show ... if he wasn't, it wouldn't be realistic."

No divorce papers have been filed by the annoying couple.

It was also reported that Spencer is the reason why Heidi undergo 10 plastic surgery procedures in one day.

The funny thing is, many are doubting if the separation is in fact true because the couple are known for their crazy publicity stunt.

If the separation is indeed true, Heidi can now take advantage to straighten her life and career.

"The Hills" upcoming new season will be the last

"The Hills" new season premiering April 27 will be the show's last hurrah!

Running on its sixth season, creator Adam DiVello tells EW, "I think we’ve told the story of struggle and of finding yourself in L.A...A lot of these kids have found themselves and have certainly embarked on different careers and different paths."

MTV president for programming Tony DiSanto said, "We are lucky and honored to have worked with this cast and tell their stories for this long, and we are grateful to the many dedicated fans who have stuck with us over the years."

DiSanto promised the series would go out on a high note and I think Lauren Conrad will be back in the finale episode!

“The Hills” star landed a cameo role for Adam Sandler's romantic comedy flick, "Just Go With It".

She tweeted, “I was just cast in my first feature film comedy! I start filming monday!!!!! This is one of the best days of my life!!! getting icecream to celebrate”

Other cast includes Sports Illustrated cover star Brooklyn Decker, Jennifer Aniston and Nicole Kidman.

Just Go With It is scheduled to be released on Valentine’s Day of 2011.
