Billy Crystal is jumping on the Oscars' runaway train replacing Eddie Murphy, who announced on Wednesday that he is backing out of his upcoming hosting duties for the 84th Annual Academy Awards next year.
Making 2012 Academy Awards his 9th time hosting the event. He confirmed the big news via twitter:
"Am doing the Oscars so the young woman in the pharmacy will stop asking my name when I pick up my prescriptions. Looking forward to the show"
Before Eddie Murphy's resignation, the Oscars' original producer Brett Ratner also resigned over a homophobic remark he made over the past weekend. Brian Grazer officially replaced director Brett Ratner as producer
Airing date for 84th Academy Awards: Feb. 26 on ABC.
