The Philippine Azkals is sending a message that we can definitely excel in soccer as the Philippine national football team defeated the Mongolia Blue Wolves with 2-0 victory on Wednesday night (February 9) in their AFC Challenge Cup pre-qualifying match at a full-packed Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.
Azkals' Emilio "Chieffy" Caligdong delivered a spectacular first goal with a smashing kick right between the legs of the Mongolian goalie. Sealing the win is the second goal scored by Phil Younghusband.
It is a great victory for Azkals and for the sport of soccer in the Philippines. It will definitely add more interest, love and deep appreciation to the sport.
Philippines is known for their love to basketball, boxing, bowling and billiards.
The second leg of this pre-qualifying match will be in the home court of Mongolia on March 15.
