Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire connected a devastating blow to the head of Fernando Montiel, putting the Mexican fighter down to the canvas in their fight at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada (February 19).
Both fighters are very eager to end the bout with a knockout. Donaire show his power and speed in the second round sending Montiel down to the canvas. After the knock down, Montiel is unconsciously trying to get up and still manage to stand to continue. Donaire rushed over to land a solid left and right combination in which referee Russell Mora finally decided to stopped the fight after two minutes and 25 seconds of the second round.
Donaire won by TKO to take the World Boxing Council and World Boxing Organization bantamweight titles.
Donaire's record is now 26-1 record, 18 on knockouts.
