Cheryl Burke: "I Was Molested"

‘Dancing With the Stars’ Cheryl Burke is now breaking her silence and reveals her struggles as a child. Raising awareness in her book "Dancing Lessons", she shared the traumatic experience of being molested and how she face her struggles.

Burke was repeatedly molested by a family friend (retired mailman) when she was very young. The assaults began when she was five years-old. She testified against him and sent him to prison for nearly 20 years. She was also abused by her boyfriends.

Cheryl said, “I’m telling my story” and added, “They’re not secrets. There’s no shame.”

Overcoming her trauma and she hopes her story will help others.

"If I can help just one person," she says, "for me that's all that matters."

We must be aware and guide the young kids about this kind of situation.
