Grammy nominated R&B singer Teena Marie, known for her hit songs "Lovergirl" and "I'm a Sucker for Your Love," was found dead in her Pasadena home on Sunday (Dec. 26). She was 54.
Her manager Mike Gardner confirmed to CNN the sad news and reportedly, she passed away in her sleep. Teena’s body was discovered by her teenage daughter.While no cause of death has been released, the singer's publicist Lynn Jeter said that Marie suffered a grand mal seizure a month ago.
She was discovered by fellow music legend Rick James in the late ’70s. Teena Marie has released 13 albums. Her last studio album is "Congo Square".
One of her last tweet is her Christmas message:
"May Gods Light always shine on you and your family!" she wrote. "May you have the most joyous Holliday season ever! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year."

Wow this is so sad. I've always loved Teena's music, especially because she had so much to do with its creation and development. Lady really knew her stuff. Vastly underrated and under-appreciated as a musician.
