Jimmy Dean Dies at 81; Country music Legend and Sausage entrepreneur

Country music legend Jimmy Dean, who is also known for his ’sausage’ brand has passed away in Virginia at the age of 81.

Dean's music fame came from 1961 song ‘Big Bad John’ which reached #1 on the Billboard pop chart. Another recognition was gave to the song ‘PT-109′ which honored former President John F. Kennedy’s bravery in World World II.

He also his career into acting in 1971 James Bond film "Diamonds Are Forever" television shows like Daniel Boone and Fantasy Island. He also has a variety television program called "The Jimmy Dean Show".

Dean's venture to business made him more popular with "Jimmy Dean Sausage", a company he started with his brother Don in 1969. The company was purchased by Consolidated Foods, later renamed Sara Lee Corporation.

Last February, Dean was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
