Oscar-winning film director Roman Polanski must now face justice after the Los Angeles court ordered that he must return to the U.S. to received the right penalty.
Superior Court Judge Peter Espinoza said he ruled "in defense of the integrity of the justice system, he needs to surrender."
Polanski is currently on house arrest in Switzerland after posting a $4.5 million bail.
Polanski pleaded guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977 but then fled the United States before he could be sentenced.
