The sultry singer who popularized the Christmas classic novelty song "Santa Baby" passed away.
Eartha Kitt died on Christmas day and it was confirmed by her publicist. Kitt was diagnosed with colon cancer and was treated at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York. She was 81 years-old.
An icon in her own rights, she was the "sex kitten" famous for her catlike purr on her performances.
On her official site, Miss Kitt has performed in over 100 countries and was honored with a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. She has starred in National Tours of THE WIZARD OF OZ and Rogers & Hammerstein's CINDERELLA. She also wrote three autobiographies.
