Bernie Mac Dead at age 50

Funny and sometimes controversial actor Bernie Mac (real name: Bernard McCullough) is dead at the age of 50.

The actor passed away at Northwestern Memorial Hospital for complications due to pneumonia.

Mary Ann Grossett says that the night before Mac died, "He struggled for his life. He couldn't breathe.

His rep just issued the following statement:
"Actor/ comedian Bernie Mac passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital. No other details are available at this time. We ask that his family's privacy continues to be respected."

Mac’s funeral is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 15, at an undisclosed location.
