Months of anticipation for the Los Angeles Galaxy seemed to have ended when David Beckham joined the club on July 13. But when a lingering ankle injury grew more worrisome than had apparently been expected. Beckham, whose five-year contract guarantees an annual salary of $6.5 million, could miss the rest of the Los Angeles Galaxy's season because of a sprained right knee. He's played 310 minutes in six games, which comes to about $21,000 a minute if he's out for the season.
Beckham's arrival was supposed to have provided an off-field boost.
