Eat Bulaga stays loyal to the Kapuso network; renews contract for three years

ABS-CBN will be facing more years of tough competition with Eat Bulaga. The longest running noontime television show in the Philippines via TAPE Inc., secured a deal to extend the show's contract to GMA-7 for another three years.

International singing sensation and upcoming "Glee" star Charice visited GMA-7's noontime show "Eat Bulaga" for the first time and she was welcomed with open arms and thrilling excitement from the host and the fans. (July 17) [VIDEO BELOW]

Charice's performance in "Eat Bulaga" was a part of a special opening number which also features actress Iza Calzado, comedienne Ruby Rodriguez, Julia Clarete and air acrobatic stunt of actress Pauleen Luna.

The highlight is Charice singing her latest hit single "Pyramid". BTW, respected TV host Joey De Leon personally gave a thumbs up to Charice. Joey was really amazed with Charice talent and achievement.

Charice said in an interview, "“Iba, iba po talaga. Ang sarap ng reaksiyon ng mga tao kanina. And nakakatuwa yung mga host, sobrang babait po nila." (It was different. It was totally different. The audience's reaction was really nice. And the hosts were very heartwarming and funny, they were really nice.)

GMA's Nelson Canlas reported that veteran host/comedian Joey de Leon admits that he is a big fan of Charice. He even knocked on the door of Charice's dressing room to get a picture with her.

Joey de Leon said, “Yung mga imported hindi ko pinapansin, (pero) ito" (I ignore imported stuff, but this one's different.)

Joey de Leon slams Willie Revillame with a poem

ABS-CBN's Wowowee TV host Willie Revillame is currently under heavy fire due to his remarks and tantrum that he made in his noontime show during the transfer of former President Cory Aquino's remains from La Salle Greenhills to Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, Manila last August 3. Willie want the video inset of the late President Cory Aquino’s transfer to be removed from the screen.

Eat Bulaga host Joey de Leon slams her rival host with a poem published in his column in Philstar describing Willie's "arrogance, stupidity, and unprofessionalism."

Joey de Leon's "Wow Mali!" return with new segment, Feb. 22

The original long running gag/practical joke show in the Philippines "Wow Mali!" will return tonight, February 22 on TV5 with new episodes and new gag with the funny host Joey de Leon.

Star Cinema’s “Ang Tanging Ina Niyong Lahat” topped the 1st day of the 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival

The battle in the box office has now started. The first day ticket sales of the 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) are now released.

Taking the to spot is Star Cinema’s “Ang Tanging Ina Niyong Lahat” with P20.9 million in ticket sales nationwide. Followed by M-Zet Productions’ “Iskul Bukol 20 Years Later” starring Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon, earning P18.9 million.

MMFF’s executive committee said the film festival’s total earnings Thursday reached P68.6 million, up 13.4 percent from last year.

"Iskul Bukol: 20 Years After" - Trailer (2008 Metro Manila Film Festival entry)

One of the Philippines' most popular comedy sitcom in the 80's "Iskul Bukol" starring Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon (TVJ) is returning in the big screen.

"Iskul Bukol: 20 Years After" will be their reunion movie with almost all the original cast with the inclusion of the new breed of young artist of today. It is also an entry for 34th Metro Manila Film Festival.

SYNOPSIS: Twenty years after, Vic Ungasis is now an excellent History professor at Wanbol University and has also successfully ventured in the field of archeology. Natagpuan niya ang Kali of Humabon na siyang nagbukas ng mystery, at hinahanap naman niya ang Kampilan ni Lapu-Lapu at gusto niyang mai-display na magkasama ang dalawang war relics. Ang Kampilan ay nasa pag-aari ni Shimata, a wealthy Japanese national whose main interest is the Peseta, na kasama ng Kampilan. Sinasabing ang Peseta ay isa na lamang sa natitirang 30 pieces of Judas' silver which will give immortality sa sinumang makakakuha nito. GMA Network's Christmas Station ID for 2008

GMA Network recently launched the official Kapuso Christmas Station ID for 2008. Through its Christmas campaign, GMA Network reaches out to children who need extra love and care due to their special circumstances.

They are the kids from the White Cross Orphanage, The Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines and the Muslim scholars of Robin Padilla.

"Awit ng Kapuso" which is the title of the song is performed by Julie Ann San Jose and composed by Simon Peter Tan.

Joey de Leon apologized to journalists

Host-comedian Joey de Leon apologized via GMA's Startalk to journalists who were offended by his joke during a segment of the noontime show Eat Bulaga.

In the “Ang Joke Mo" segment, Joey said: "Wala ‘yan sa lola ko. Ang lola ko pumapatay ng mga press people."

Two media organization (The National Press Club of the Philippines and Alyansa ng Filipinong Mamamahayag (Afima)) doesn't find the joke funny but they think it's offensive to journalist. NPC President Benny Antiporda said he admires Joey but his joke was an affront to journalists who are mourning the deaths of their colleagues felled by assassins.

The two media groups demanded a public apology to Joey De Leon.

Joey indeed apologized and he explained that he respects the members of the media and considers himself as a journalist as he writes a column in a newspaper. He added he has no intention of insulting journalists with his joke.


Joey explained: “Ang ibig kong sabihin noon ay ‘hoy, Jimmy (Santos), huwag kang presko dahil ang lola ko pumapatay ng presko. OK. Hindi ninyo namang puwedeng sabihin na, ayan na naman si Joey nagpapalusot na naman. Hindi po. Papaano po ninyo malalaman ang iniisip ko. Yung ang ibig kong sabihin. Press people… yung ngang nagpaplansta pwedeng tawaging press people, e."

Joey De Leon reacts to "wrong" report and he ask GMA Network to Ban the columnist

Actor-comedian and Eat Bulaga host Joey De Leon gave a big blows by his strong words and threat to the journalist/Editor who reported that Eat Bulaga Grand Fiesta in L.A. was a flop.

Joey explained in Startalk that the thing that makes him mad is when the said columnist quoted saying "the source came from a GMA Executive". In that point Joey challenge the columnist to name the executive and he will forgive the columnist and he will give him a free 2 plane tickets to USA and $5,000 pocket money.

And If the said columnist will not name the executive, Joey gave another challenge to his mother station (GMA Network) that if the said columnist will be invited in any GMA press conference or any activities, he will resign to all GMA Shows except for Eat Bulaga. In Short, GMA Network must BAN the columnist.

Angry Alessandra De Rossi in Startalk

Yesterday at GMA's Entertainment talk show Startalk, Alessandra De Rossi is in a upset and fiery mood after she explained about the slapping incident in Davao with former boyfriend Jeremy Marquez.

Alessandra explained to Host Joey De Leon that she didn't want to destroy her ex-bf but she said Jeremy has an attitude and she added theirs a thing that she can't say on national television and she just whisper it to Mr. Joey De Leon.

Joey De Leon's (New) Wish for 2008

I have just read the column of TV host/comedian Joey De Leon in Manila Bulletin. He discussed his New Year's wish. He said, every year his wish are "Sana mag–number one ulit ang Eat Bulaga sa bagong taong ito, at pati na rin ang station na kinalalagyan namin.(I hope Eat Bulaga will still be No.1 this year and also our Mother Station.)" But he want a different new wish for this year.

So this year 2008 he want to change his wish, "Sana mag-number two ulit sila!(I hope they will stay at no.2!)".

It is obvious he is pointing at their rival TV station(ABS-CBN).

He retracted and Joey said, "And before I get some violent reactions from some quarters I might have "picked on" (that’s where the word "pikon" originated), may I make clear that the number two I was referring to is… QTV. Okay lang kayo? Cheers!"

Back to Iskul Bukol in I-Witness

I-Witness presents "Wanbol University Revisited", a documentary by Jay Taruc. Even this is a short documentary Jay Taruc described Iskul Bukol one of the best and successful sitcom in Philippine TV.

It reminisce the funny characters and situation in Wanbol university.The show lead by the three funny men Vic Sotto (Victor Ongasis) Tito and Joey (Escalera Brothers).

Victor Ongasis represents the new student coming from the province and was always bully by his classmate. Tito and Joey Escalera's character represents the street smart naughty boys of a school (naughty but compassionate). The half-brothers past time is Mahjong.

Joey De Leon "Explain before I Comply"

The never ending number zero and especially the number two(2) continues..... (Willie Revillame controversy).
If you have watch Startalk last Saturday someone is missing, Joey De Leon is absent.
In a GMA interview, Joey De Leon explain the reason why he is absent in that Saturday show. Joey said that he received a letter from high management and some other people, ordering him/barred him or guidelines from saying things like the number 2(if you will notice his action and punchline in Eat Bulaga Show), his gesture, hand signal and even the kind of design in his T-Shirt that he gonna wear.
Movie and Television Review and Classifications Board (MTRCB) chairperson Consoliza Laguardia on Monday denied any hand in the warning issued against veteran comedian and Eat Bulaga! host Joey de Leon.
Joey De Leon also says that he is willing to comply to the letter that he received.
But he again deliver one of his famous quote "Explain before Comply."

The good MTRCB chairperson Ma. Consoliza Laguardia is calling the attention of the two noontime host, Joey De Leon of Eat Bulaga And Willie Revillame of Wowowee. And She invited and talk first to Willie.
She also said this is a personal initiative. Ms. Laguardia is advising and urging the two parties to patch thing up. She also said the two has responsibility to both audience.

Joey De Leon's came on firing. Joey is in Hong Kong, when Willie's outburst drama came up. He just arrive and his opening salvo when Eat Bulaga starts "Hindi ko kayo dadayain", teasing words from the noontime host. And he promise to the studio viewers and television viewers that he will give a speech at the end of the show. Exciting!!!
I'm sure Eat Bulaga todays rating will be very high. Many are expecting the speech that will come out from Mr. Joey De Leon. Reporters, viewers and even the rival noontime show (Wowowee) of Eat Bulaga will be watching. Especially me...

Tito Sotto announced that Joey will give his speech before the jackpot round of "On the spot Jackpot".

Joey Explain that a person is using him as a cover up for their controversy. Joey doesn't name any person or show(but we all know who is referring too). He just gave comments about the video(Wilyonaryo Controversy)that came out in the news, newspaper, television and internet(Youtube and others). He repeatedly explain that all of this is base on the video. And he ask his rival to explain the cheating incident coz' the Filipino audience want to know the truth.

Before Joey De Leon end his speech, he said," Try to cry with tears don't fake it".
And his advice to Willie, " EXPLAIN BEFORE YOU COMPLAIN".

Joey's speech is very clear and well said.
