2011 MMFF official entries announced!
Familiar faces will face off in another box office battle for the upcoming 37th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino announced on Friday (June 17) the eight official entries.

“Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote” tops 2010 MMFF Day 1; “Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last na 'To)” in second
The movie entries for 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival’s (MMFF) delivered good opening box-office numbers soaring to P80 million surpassing last year’s earnings of P70 million.
The powerhouse combination of Senator Bong Revilla and Vic Sotto via the fantasy action-comedy movie “Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote” tops day 1 (December 25) of MMFF with P31 million. Star Cinema's “Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last na 'To)” starring Ai-Ai de las Alas came in second with P20 million. Kris Aquino's horror flick "Dalaw" ranked third with P12.5 million.

Ai Ai delas Alas taking Public Administration course; will run for public office in the future
Her popularity and current success doesn't hinder her to achieve another path. Philippines' comedy queen/Pilipinas Got Talent judge Ai Ai delas Alas is setting her goals in studying public administration course at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City this school year.
It will be a personal fulfillment to her as she admits that she's eying for public office in the future in her home province of Batangas.
Reportedly, the comedienne already earned a mass communication degree from Far Eastern University in 1985.

Ai-ai delas Alas & Zaijan Jaranilla for "Maalaala Mo Kaya" Mother’s Day episode
"Maalaala Mo Kaya" has something special for its Mother’s Day episode as they combined Philippines' comedy queen Ai-Ai delas Alas and Kapamiya's boy wonder Zaijian Jaranilla. A story about Mother's love, sacrifice and decisions that she must take for the future of her child.Ai-Ai plays the role of Alice, the kind-hearted aunt of Eleng (Lauren Young) who entrusts her son Charles (Zaijian) to her care. Alice is forced to raise the boy while Eleng earns a living abroad.Also in the cast are Karla Estrada, Lauren Young and directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng.
The conflict begins when Eleng returns five years later and Charles doesn’t recognize her. Is there anyone to blame if he prefers the mother who stayed by his side rather than the one who sacrificed a lot for him? Who between Alice and Eleng should make the ultimate sacrifice by letting go of Charles?

Philippines' Comedy Queen Ai Ai delas Alas will be the third person joining the judges panel in the upcoming talent show "Pilipinas Got Talent".
Her charm and comedic approach will be a great addition to TV host-actress Kris Aquino and former ABS-CBN president Freddie Garcia. Hosting the show are Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford.
ABS-CBN's "Pilipinas Got Talent" is the Philippine franchise of "Got Talent" franchise - owned by Simon Cowell's SYCO company.

Ai-Ai delas Alas will rest longer due to kidney infection
It seems former beauty queen Charlene Gonzales will stay more longer as the temporary co-host of Ruffa Gutierrez.
Comedienne Ai-Ai delas Alas is now being advised by FEU-NRMF doctors to take a rest for at least five days due to acute kidney infection and inflammation of the stomach.
According to SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon, the morning show host is suffering from “acute pyelonephritis and acute gastritis.”
On the medical bulletin issued by Dr. Lerie V. Chan, “She is closely being monitored and observed and is expected to be better in the days to come".
Reportedly, they suspected that the raw food that she ate in Japan might have triggered her stomach ache.
Withe her absence, her humor will be surely miss.

After the blockbuster movie success of two "Tanging ina" franchise, Ai-Ai delas Alas confirmed that she will again reprise the role and she will do the third installment of the comedy-family flick.
After becoming a Martyr in the first movie, a mother turned President in the second, she reveals that the third part is entitled “Tanging Ina 3: OFW”, it will be the official entry of Star Cinema to the 2009's Metro Manila Film Festival.
This means part of the scenes will be shot abroad. Another funny and sure hit for Ai-Ai delas Ala and the rest of the cast.

Ai-Ai delas Alas once again proved that she can topped the Metro Manila Film Festival with the movie "Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat" of Star Cinema. The total gross reached to P171 million.

2008 MMFF update: “Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat” total gross 102.5 million, seven days
On the latest update on the 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) box office result, Ai Ai delas Alas' “Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat” by Star Cinema still leads the ticket sales and it reached the P100 million mark after seven days of showing.
According to official MMFF executive committee, the festival total gross reached P284 million or 32 percent higher than the first seven-day take last year.
Here's the update:
1. Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat - 102.5 million
2. Iskul Bukol… 20 Years After - 72.6 million
3. Shake Rattle and Roll X - 45.7 million
4. Desperadas 2 - 27.3 million

UPDATE: 2nd day of Metro Manila Film Festival 2008 box-office result
The blockbuster family comedy flick of Star Cinema’s “Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat” continues to dominate the box office results. The two day's earning reached to Php 133.7 million, 37 percent higher than last year.
With the result of yesterday's awards night, the moviegoers curiosity will boost up the ticket sales.
“Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat” bagged the 2nd Best Picture Award while the night goes to the period film "Baler", took home 10 festival awards.
