2007 Catholic Mass Media Awards lists of winners

The credible Catholic Mass Media Awards was held last Thursday at the Marie Eugenie Theater of the Assumption College. The indie movie Kubrador (Jueteng Bet Collector) won the Best Picture.

There were no winners in some categories like Best News Commentary in the radio category, and the Best Business News/Feature, Best Special Event Coverage in the television category.

In the Best News Magazine category it was a tie between Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho of GMA-7 and The Correspondents of ABS-CBN.

A thrilling nomination night, everyone is trying to be calm and waiting for the new list of nominees. It's a bad night for Megan Young, Zara Aldana, Baron Geisler and brother Donald Geisler.

Megan Young was shock when Toni Gonzaga announced that she is one of the nominees for this week. Megan was not voted but was picked by HOH Ethel Booba. Ethel has the privilege(enjoyment) to give a automatic nomination to any housemates. This is Princess of Charm 2nd consecutive nominations.

Zara dubbed as the Poor beauty Queen is the second housemate to be nominated last night. Some housemates felt that she’s too much of a cry baby and brings everyone’s mood with her every time she does so. Others feel alienated and uncomfortable too in her presence.

The two-in-one housemates/brothers Baron Geisler and Donald Geisler are the last to be nominated and they got the highest number of votes from their fellow housemates. Baron, the moody housemate becomes careless and inconsiderate this week. He even offended some of the other housemates. Donald(Donnie) is the opposite of his brother.

Rasheed Wallace says NBA is Becoming like the WWE

Comments were made by Piston Player Rasheed Wallace at the end of their final exhibition. This is towards Detroit Pistons playoff exit last season and his ejection from Game 6.

"I still don't think they (Cavaliers) beat us, we beat ourselves," Wallace said. "And I think we also fell victim to that personal NBA thing where they are trying to make it a world game and get (television) ratings. They wanted to put their darling in there (the NBA Finals) and they did, and look what ended up happening."

"This game ain't basketball anymore, it's entertainment," Wallace said. "It's starting to get like the WWE. There ain't no real wrestling anymore either. It's all fake."

According to Wallace the NBA Finals last season has the worst ratings in the modern history of NBA due to their favorite(LeBron James.

PBB Celebrity Edition 2 Update: Jen and Marylaine Evicted

The first eviction night of PBB Celebrity Edition 2 happen last night. The battle of support by their respective supporters are between Ex-GMA artist Megan Young and the two-in-one housemates Marylaine Viernes and Jen Da Silva (26k girls).

The verdict is out and the first housemates to be evicted is the 2-in-1 housemates Jen and Marylaine. Megan Young dubbed as Princess of Charm survived and received 87.89% of the total votes against 12.11% of the total votes of the two 26k girls.

The Pinoy Big Brother house introduced the first PBB Celebrity Walk of Fame. And Jen and Marylaine was the first to experienced it.

Notorious B.I.G. Wax Figure

One of the greatest rap artists of all time, rap icon Christopher "The Notorious B.I.G." Wallace immortalized in wax at Madame Tussauds New York.

Ms. Voletta Wallace personally unveiled the wax figure of the legendary rapper.

The Notorious B.I.G. wax figure is dressed in a white three-piece suit and hat and leaning on a gold-tipped cane.

"I am thrilled. I am honored," Wallace said.

"But I'm also really emotional. The likeness with my son is incredible. It's like he's standing here. I was welling up when I first saw it.

"You want to know what he would have thought of it? He would say, 'See? I told you so. I'm here for the world to see.'

"He's more famous now than he was when he was alive."

Demand Letter of Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby to Lolit Solis

A demand letter was sent to Talent Manager/TV host Lolit Solis by Sam Milby and Piolo Pascual's Lawyer. The letter state that Solis must withdraw her statement and issue a public apology.

Sam Milby's anger is due to Lolit Solis Column in Pilipino Star Ngayon, a tabloid in the Philippines. The column came out last October 15, with the front-page headline, "Sam and Piolo, naglalampungan."

We are writing in behalf of our clients, Mssrs Samuel Lloyd Milby and Piolo Jose N. Pascual.

Our clients referred to us the matter of libelous material, which you wrote in your 15 October 2007 column at Pilipino Star Ngayon. Other articles referring to the same subject matter were subsequently published in other tabloids

In your article, you narrated that you saw our clients together at a Sofitel Hotel coffee shop, the previous Friday, 12 October 2007, at around 4:00 pm, their manner towards each other, unexpected from two gentlemen. Your article has left in doubt in the minds of the readers that you intended our clients to be perceived as gay men.

Unfortunately, our clients were not in Sofitel on 12 October 2007. They were not even together on the said date. Hence, your story was without any factual basis, and clearly a falsehood.

Besides being a complete lie, your narrative contained words and phrases that were indisputably defamatory, for they impute upon our clients a condition which is sufficient to impeach their reputation as matinee idols and hold them to public ridicule. Your article has undoubtedly shown your objective of maligning and injuring the reputation of our clients.

On view of the foregoing, we hereby demand a retraction of your malicious article, as well as a public apology. After having maliciously maligned our clients, it is only appropriate that you dispel the negative impression created by your libelous article. Should you not do so within ten (10) days from your receipt of this letter, we shall be constrained to take whatever legal action is appropriate and necessary to protect the interest of our clients.

Our clients still hope that the above matter would be settled without resort to court action. We appeal to your common decency, and hope that you will correct what you have done and refrain from further inflicting injury to our clients.

We trust that this matter merits your preferential attention.

Philippine TV Ratings (October 23-25) Zaido hits 40 percent mark

Last October 23, two show from GMA enters the 40+ percent mark. Marimar is a steady leader in primetime with a booming rating of 47.9 percent and in second is again another kapuso show Zaido with a impressive score of 40 percent rating.

Eat Bulaga, the longest running television show returned to the driver seat at no.1 in daytime programming with 21.7 percent last October 25.

Bad news for ABSCBN's Lastikman fans. The show drop to no.10 slot with 20.6 percent.
